Bio
Ralf Rottmann is a serial entrepreneur from Germany who sold his second company
to Vodafone in November 2019.
His first company got acquired by Alcatel-Lucent in 2008. Ralf retired in April 2021 and now lives in a small village near Dortmund.
Ralf is an active business angel and does early-stage investments via Rottmann Ventures. He served on the IOTA Foundation Board of Directors, overseeing assets with a combined market cap of 3 billion US Dollars, though he became a strong opponent of all things #crypto, #nft and #web3. (Here is why.) Ralf has been selected for the Digital Economy Advisory Council North Rhine-Westphalia constituted by Minister Prof. Dr. Andreas Pinkwart. Since March 2024 Ralf serves as the Presdient for Dortmunder Golfclub e.V. in an honorary capacity, after having been on the board for a while.
With more than two decades of building and growing successful companies, Ralf focuses on strategies for the connected economy. He is passionate about the Internet, the social effects of new technology, net politics and digital culture. In his free time, Ralf loves to play with and program professional stage lighting, media and audio technology - a hobby that he has had since he was 15 years old.
